Asthma 101

If you frequently experience shortness of breath or you hear a whistling or wheezy sound in your chest when you breathe, you may have asthma – a chronic condition that causes inflammation and narrowing of the airways.

Asthma Symptoms

Asthma is a chronic lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways in the lungs. Symptoms include coughing, shortness of breath and chest tightness.

An allergist can determine if you have asthma through a series of tests. If you are diagnosed with asthma, your allergist will work with you to determine the best course of treatment, so you can manage your chronic condition.

Asthma Treatment

Although there’s no cure for asthma, with the guidance of your allergist and a customized asthma treatment plan, you can manage this chronic condition and enjoy a full and active life.

Types of Asthma

There are many different types of asthma, including allergic asthma, non-allergic asthma, adult onset asthma, exercised-induced asthma and occupational asthma.
